The New Orleans City Council has adopted Resolution R-21-61 in support of the Sewerage and Water Board’s efforts to fully fund the local match for the SELA program and continue work.

OVERVIEW


In an effort to alleviate flooding in New Orleans, The Federal Government, through the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE), has committed to spend over $1 billion on drainage construction projects through the Southeast Louisiana Urban Flood Control Program (SELA).


SELA was authorized in 1996 by the United States Congress and administered under a project cooperation agreement between the Sewerage and Water Board Of New Orleans and the USACE. Louisiana Coastal Protection Authority is a partnering agency.
